TWO people were killed when a boom truck fell off a ravine in Barangay Uling, Naga City yesterday dawn.
The incident happened at 12:10 a.m. while the boom truck, owned by the CCT-Toyo Consortium Industries, was making a downhill turn on its way to Barangay Uling.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, hit some houses and drove towards the cliff.
Two men died in the accident, including truck boy Arquilao Villacen. He was the first to be removed from the wreckage.
The other fatality is the driver, whose identity is not known yet.
Residents living near the area, like Josephine Papas, 45, heard a rumbling sound coming from the scene of the accident and thought it was another earthquake.
Papas and her son went out to check and saw the truck and the damage it left on its wake.
Rescue officials said the cliff is located about 100 to 150 meters away from the main road.
Renato Villasencio, a Naga City Hall employee, told Sun.Star Cebu that his house was damaged by the truck while some of his things inside were destroyed.
The incident is still being investigated.
This is not the first time an accident occurred in Barangay Uling this year.
Last January, 11 people died when a trailer truck lost its brake and crashed into a minibus.
