Illegal drugs motive of minibus shooting-A A +A

POLICE are pointing to illegal drugs as the main angle behind the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man inside a minibus in Barangay Balud, San Fernando, Cebu last Monday.
They said victim Ariel Gomez reportedly failed to pay for the illegal drugs he bought.
They said the gunman was no other than the pusher, said Chief Insp. Sara Jean Recla, San Fernando town’s police chief.
Recla told Sun.Star Cebu they now have the suspect’s identity, but they can’t reveal it as it might hamper their investigation.
Gomez was shot dead while onboard an FM Liner minibus in Sitio Crossing around 12:30 p.m. Three others were hurt during the rampage.
Witnesses claim that the gunman shot Gomez just after he boarded the bus in Sitio Magtalisay.
The injured passengers were identified as Rose Marie Navares, Jomar Secretaria and Gentor Coronado. They are still recuperating at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
The incident occurred right after Gomez cast his vote, which led police to initially believe the shooting was election-related.
Recla also clarified that the incident was an “isolated case”.
The town was generally peaceful during the barangay elections last Monday, she said.
