THE Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) is rerouting the vehicular traffic for four days, particularly on streets near the 10 cemeteries for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
This, as Mayor Michael Rama ordered the Cebu City Police Office to make sure that the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day will be peaceful, orderly and safe.
Rama reminded the policemen and the public that no law has been suspended and that bringing of deadly weapons and alcohol in cemeteries will not be allowed.
On traffic, Citom rerouted the vehicles starting yesterday; it will be implemented until Nov. 2.
At Pardo Cemetery, all vehicles will not be allowed to pass through Dela Victoria St. and Sabellano Road to give way to pedestrians who will be visiting their departed ones.
The designated parking area will be along J. Tabura St. and on N. Bacalso Ave while the loading and unloading will be on J. Tabura St.
At Labangon Cemetery, all vehicles coming from Katipunan St. should pass A. Lopez St., then take a left turn to Balaga St.
The designated parking area will be on both sides of Katipunan St. while the loading and unloading will be on Balaga Road.
At Calamba Cemetery, the route of vehicles will remain the same. However, parking will not be allowed near the cemetery, particularly along V. Rama Ave.
Tartanillas and trisikads will also not be allowed to pass V. Rama so they will have to take Alcantara St. in going to their destinations.
The designated parking area will only be at the gate near the cemetery while the loading and unloading will be on Lucio Drive.
At Talamban Cemetery, all vehicles coming from downtown will have to proceed to Borbajo St. then take a left turn to SOS St., then to Miñoza St. then to their destinations.
For vehicles coming from Barangay Pit-os, they will have to use Miñoza St. in going to downtown proper.
The designated parking and the loading and unloading area will be on Miñoza St. and Borbajo St.
At Cempark Cemetery, all vehicles, except trucks and trailers, going there coming from the downtown area passing through Gov. Cuenco Ave. will have to use only the rightmost side of the road and then turn right to J. Panis St. and exit along A.S. Fortuna St. or to Orel St. in going to Mandaue City.
The designated parking area will be at Gaisano Country Mall while the loading and unloading will be on J. Panis St. from the gate of Cempark to Gov. Cuenco Ave.
Citom has also rerouted the vehicular traffic on the roads near the Old Lorega San Miguel Cemetery, Carreta Cemetery, Doña Pepang Cemetery, Chinese Cemetery, Ludo Cemetery, and Queen City Memorial Gardens.
Citom has installed traffic signs in the affected areas and advised motorists, drivers and other road users to strictly follow them in order to avoid traffic congestion.
