Shortened work hours at Capitol, Talisay City Hall-A A +A
Thursday, October 31, 2013
THE Cebu Provincial Capitol and Talisay City Hall will have shortened work hours today to allow employees to observe All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day earlier.
At the Capitol, only those employees who perform vital functions and those who transact with the public will have to report to work for the whole day. The rest will only work from morning to noontime.
“This is to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe the day with all its religious fervor,” Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said in a memorandum dated Oct. 30.
“Paying homage to the dead on All Saints’ Day is one of our most cherished traditions,” Davide also said.
The governor instructed that those performing vital functions and directly transact with the public are required to maintain a skeletal force.
The memorandum, though, did not specify what these departments are.
In Talisay City, Mayor Johnny de los Reyes also issued an order suspending work at City Hall by noon today to give government workers time to go home in preparation for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
In Memorandum Order 2013-0103, de los Reyes has ordered the suspension of work in all City Hall departments to give employees and job order workers time to go home to their provinces and visit their departed loved ones.
Office hours will be suspended starting at 1 p.m.
