A DRINKING spree ended in violence when a woman was shot and killed by her neighbor in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City last Saturday night after complaining about the noise.
Rubelyn G. Binondo, 19, died from three gunshot wounds on her breast, police said.
SPO4 Alex Dacua of Cebu City Police Office’s Homicide Section said the incident took place at 8:45 p.m. when Raymund Quipte, 31, was drinking with his friends in the backyard.
“Gibadlong sila ni Binondo kay gisabaan (Binondo called out to them for being noisy),” he told Sun.Star Cebu.
The drinking buddies of Quipte also alleged Binondo threw stones at them. This prompted the suspect to confront Binondo.
When they reached the victim’s house, Quipte pulled out a firearm and suddenly shot Binondo several times.
The homicide investigator said the victim was able to run away, but was shot again by Quipte before slumping into the ground.
Binondo was rushed to the hospital by her relatives and friends, but died on the way there. Quipte, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found when authorities arrived.
An empty shell of a firearm believed to be .38 revolver was recovered in the crime scene.
Dacua, in the interview, said they are investigating if the pair had previous quarrels.
A murder complaint against Quipte is now being prepared by police.
Meanwhile, a construction worker was severely wounded after he was ganged up by a group of men in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City last Saturday dawn.
Jelmar Cadorna, 29, of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City sustained multiple stab wounds in the different parts of his body.
SPO1 Ruth Violango of Cebu City Police Office’s Homicide Section said the victim was on his way to a store to buy cigarettes when he was attacked at 12:50 a.m.
The unidentified suspects were reportedly the group whom Cadorna and his friends had a drinking session with.
“Nagkainitay siguro ni sila didto tungod sa kahubog (Things must have heated up because they got drunk),” Violango said.
Cadorna was rushed to the Perpetual Succour Hospital where he is currently confined.
The suspects were able to run away when police responded to the crime scene.
