FOR allegedly firing his gun while he was drunk, the former captain of Barangay Day-as, Cebu City was charged before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.
The police filed complaints against Rey Cañada for alarm and scandal and for violating the City Ordinance 1929 that prohibits drunkenness.
Last Sunday night, Cañada was caught by a team led by Senior Insp. Ardoelito Cabagnot.
The police officers on board their patrol car passed by the area after conducting checkpoint.
They arrested the former public official outside the barangay hall. Cañada allegedly fired his gun, a firearm issued by the Cebu City Government.
Cañada and other former barangay officials ended their term at midnight last Saturday.
Winners of the last Oct. 28 barangay elections started reporting for duty last Dec. 1.
Before the 9:40 p.m. incident, residents and Cañada’s supporters were watching a boxing match on television outside the barangay hall.
Cañada tested positive of liquor when he was taken at the Cebu City Medical Center.
Cabagnot’s team seized from Cañada the firearm and the magazine with bullets.
