A LANDSLIDE in Barangay Buhisan is “imminent,” according to the report of Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak.
He believes that there is a need to vacate 45 families living in Sitios Sandayong and Puti.
“Considering their present situation, the extent of their horizontal displacement and the length of the crack lines, we are of the opinion that landslide in the area is very imminent which could be triggered by heavy downpour, flood and worse earthquakes which may occur any time,” read Tumulak's report to Mayor Michael Rama.
Tumulak inspected the village last Nov. 28, almost three weeks after super typhoon Yolanda and more than a month after a M7.2 earthquake last Oct. 15.
The inspection was prompted by the appearance of two tension cracks in Sitio Dulhugan.
Tumulak recommended that affected families be temporarily housed at the barangay sports complex.
He said the Department of Environment and Natural Resources had warned the residents and urged them to relocate years ago.
The City's relocation site is in Barangay Budlaan.
