SOME 1,500 Capitol workers will be receiving a P20,000 cash bonus, 25 kilos of rice and ham from the Cebu Provincial Government in time for Christmas.
Aside from Capitol employees, barangay health workers and tanods will also be getting additional incentives.
Governor Hilario Davide III announced this yesterday following a mass held at the Capitol Social Hall.
Davide announced the granting of cash bonus after the Cebu Provincial Board approved the supplemental budget appropriating P31 million for the bonus. The bonuses will be taken from the Capitol’s savings and will be distributed before Christmas.
The amount is lower than last year’s P30,000 but Davide said this what what was agreed after conferring the matter with Budget Officer Danilo Rodas.
“They gave us an option (whether to grant a Christmas bonus or not) because of the tragedy but still we decided to release the amount in the spirit of solidarity,” the governor said.
He added that the P20,000 is fair and reasonable, and will still be able to help employees or their relatives who were affected by the calamities that hit Cebu recently. Joyse E. Almojallas, USJ-R Mass Com Intern
