A MEMBER of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) allegedly figured in a mauling incident inside a bar in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City at Monday dawn.
A 26-year-old man with a bruised eye went to the Basak Police Station past 3 a.m. and said that Christian Jasmin, 25, and five other persons mauled him inside the Tonyo’s KTV Bar.
SPO1 Gregorio Cabisares said Jasmin came to the station to try to settle the matter with victim Christian Tariman, a resident of Basak Pardo, Cebu City and an actor of a local TV station, but the latter was resolved to press charges of physical injury.
Cabisares said Jasmin and Tariman were drinking at separate tables. It was not clear what provoked Jasmin and his companions to attack Tariman.
Police did not detain Jasmin who assured he will face the case.
Cabisares, in a phone interview, said the five cohorts of Jasmin, a resident of Tayud, Consolacion, have yet to be identified.
“We advised the victim to secure a medical certificate,” said Cabisares.
Insp. Genilo Beraque, chief of Basak Police Station, said they advised the victim to pursue his complaint before the Office of Ombudsman Visayas.
