CELESTINO “Tining” Martinez III, former Bogo City major and now barangay captain, will run unopposed in today’s Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) provincial federation election at the Capitol Social Hall.
The election is for a new set of officers for 2013 to 2016.
Martinez, barangay captain of Cayang, Bogo City, filed his certificate of candidacy yesterday at the office of the ABC federation in the legislative building.
Outgoing ABC president Ribomapil Holganza Jr. will run for the board of directors.
Holganza said all candidates will run uncontested.
That means the next vice president will be Emerito Calderon of Samboan, while the next auditor will be Mercidita Apura of Carcar City.
The board of directors will be composed of Nerissa Arquillano (San Francisco), Wilfredo Diamante (Tuburan), Bernabe Gonzales (Balamban), Joseph Redulla (Alegria), Arnelito Rubin (Argao), Celodonio Sitoy (Cordova), Thomas Mark Durano (Danao City) and Holganza (Bantayan).
During the Provincial Board (PB) session last Monday, Holganza, who served as ex-officio member as a representative of the ABC provincial federation, thanked his
colleagues for their camaraderie for the last three years.
Holganza ran unopposed as barangay captain in Barangay Baod, Bantayan in last Oct. 28’s barangay elections. He is on his third term.
In 2007 and 2010, Holganza also ran unopposed as ABC president in the municipal and provincial levels.
This year, he also won unopposed as ABC president in Bantayan.
“I try not to get so attached in an office that it would be so hard for me to let go,” he said, on his reason for not running in this year’s ABC provincial federation presidency.
In a separate interview, Martinez said he will support the programs of Gov. Hilario Davide III.
“Whatever the programs of the governor and his administration nya iya pung agenda sa Province we will be there ug unsa puy among ikatampo (we will be there to support him),” Martinez said.
