‘Level 3 pusher’ falls in buy-bust-A A +A

A MAN was arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City last Monday night.
Allegedly seized from Dennis Evalle, a criminology graduate, were 10 plastic packs of illegal drugs worth P20,000.
Also confiscated during the operation conducted by the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) were two moli-moli and video carrera machines.
According to CIB Chief Romeo Santander, Evalle, 28, applied to join the Philippine National Police early this year but he failed the background check conducted by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.
“Documentation pa lang wala na ni siya kapasar sa pagka-police (he couldn’t pass) and maybe because of his background also na involved in drugs,” said Santander.
The CIB Chief added they received several reports of Evalle’s rampant selling of illegal drugs in the barangay.
The CIB placed him under surveillance before they conducted the buy-bust.
Evalle, for his part, declined to comment to the media yesterday.
Santander said Evalle is a level 3 drug pusher who could dispose of at least P25,000 worth of illegal drugs a week.
Evalle will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Santander reminded all PNP applicants not to engage in criminal activities.
“We are really strict in checking one’s background. So they should be careful of their actions,” he said.
In an earlier report, PRO 7 Director Danilo Constantino said becoming a policeman will be more difficult each year.
This way, every policeman will value his/her year in service and will not be tempted to commit any wrongdoing.
“To become a policeman is difficult but to lose one’s badge is easy,” he said in Tagalog.
