Buzz: Spoiled by processed food

A group of volunteers prepared arroz caldo topped with hotdog for children in northern Cebu who were affected by Yolanda. While some of the kids devoured the food, others ate only the hotdog.

Asked what was wrong with the food, one child said the arroz caldo was “tab-ang” (bland).

Someone remarked that the children may have gotten used to high-sodium canned goods as they have been relying mainly on relief food packs for sustenance since Yolanda made landfall in northern Cebu on Nov. 8.

When another private group held a Christmas party for the same group of children, they knew what to prepare: spaghetti and hotdog, which no child could resist.
