Many ‘will lose their job’ due to KTV bar’s closure-A A +A

THE lawyer of Las Vegas KTV Music Lounge yesterday slammed the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (Caib) for padlocking the establishment allegedly without due process.
“They never presented any evidence supporting their allegations. No pictures. No affidavit,” Atty. Inocencio dela Cerna told Sun.Star Cebu.
He said they will file a motion for reconsideration, asking Caib to immediately lift the closure order.
The bar’s closure will render about 100 workers, including waiters, cashiers and clerks, jobless, he said.
“In this most crucial time, they will go hungry. The establishment is losing P50,000 daily (due to the closure),” dela Cerna said.
Lucella Mercado, Caib chairperson, recommended the closure of the bar for allegedly violating City Ordinance 1408, which prohibits indecent and lewd shows inside bars.
Last Friday, personnel of Caib and the Prevention Restoration Order Beautification and Enhancement served the closure order to Anabella Mancia, human resource manager of Las Vegas KTV.
City Hall personnel padlocked the doors of the bar located on the second floor of APM Square at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Mabolo.
Mercado said they placed the bar under surveillance last July 9 and 24 and saw women dancing half-naked on stage.
Caib said it placed the bar on surveillance again last Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 and witnessed lewd shows.
Prosecutor Aida Sanchez, Caib member, said they sent a letter to the bar manager attaching nude photos of bar performers.
“They promised that such incident would not happen again. But when we sent somebody to watch the show, it was still the same,” she said.
The prosecutor said personnel of the anti-indecency board visited the bar several times and witnessed nude shows.
“So we had no options left but to recommend the closure,” Sanchez said.
