TWO suspected drug peddlers were arrested by police in separate operations in Barangay Balud, Dalaguete, Cebu last Friday afternoon.

This, as the illegal drug problem in Central Visayas remains a major concern for law enforcers.

“Pero maganda rin mga accomplishments ng police natin (But our officers are doing a good job),” said Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.

Arrested in the Dalaguete operation were Demetrio “Dembus” Bustamante, 51, and Alvin “Tebong” Aguitong, 29.

Poseur buyer

Insp. Rico Emperwa, chief of Dalaguete Police Station, said they conducted a buy-bust against Bustamante at 3 p.m.

A poseur buyer bought a small pack of shabu worth P500 from the suspect. When the transaction was consummated, Bustamante was arrested by police.

Seized from his possession were three small packs of alleged shabu believed to be worth P1,500.

Bustamante told investigators his alleged supplier was Aguitong. Emperwa and his personnel planned for a follow-up operation against Aquitong.

Small pack

A poseur buyer bought a small pack of shabu worth P500 from Aguitong. The suspect was then picked up by police when he handed over the item.

A plastic container with six small packs of alleged shabu was recovered from Aguitong.

Emperwa, in a phone interview, said they have been monitoring Bustamante for almost a month. The two suspects are considered street pushers.

“Daghan pa gyud ming targets dihang lugara (We still have plenty of targets in that area),” he told Sun.Star Cebu.

A complaint for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects tomorrow.

In a command conference last week, Constantino said he directed all city and provincial directors to intensify their operations against illegal drugs.

In the second operation, a 57-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly sold a pack of shabu to operatives of City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOTF) last Friday night in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Narcisa Sullera denied selling illegal drugs.

Some P40,000 worth of shabu was allegedly confiscated from her in ten small packs and one big pack.

She admitted that the boyfriend of his daughter who is in jail at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntilupa was drug pusher who made her as an errand.

CAIDSOTF operatives headed by Senior Inspector Eunil Avergonzado arrested Sullera past 9 p.m. Friday on Guadalajara St., Barangay Guadalupe.

She was arrested while she was allegedly selling a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a poseur buyer.

“Three weeks ni namo gi surveillance,” Avergonzado said.
