THREE days before the year ends, a magnitude-4.3 earthquake struck the Province of Bohol yesterday afternoon.
A report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was felt in the town of Buenavista, Bohol, about 59 kms. northeast of Tagbilaran City.
The earthquake reportedly occurred at 4:20 p.m. yesterday and had a depth of seven kms.
The earthquake is tectonic in origin, or one that is caused by the movement of two shifting plates.
The earthquake was also felt in the neighboring Province of Cebu, causing an intensity 4 tremor in Mandaue City and intensity 2 in Cebu City.
Despite the strength of the earthquake, no damage was monitored within the provinces.
Two months ago, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the provinces of Cebu and Bohol, causing massive destruction of structures, including centuries-old churches.
More than 200 people were killed, eight remain missing while close to 1,000 people were injured.
