To discipline erring detainees, warden asks for isolation cell-A A +A
Friday, January 3, 2014
THE warden of the Talisay City Jail is asking City Hall for funds for the construction of an isolation cell where erring inmates can be detained.
Chief Insp. Gil Inopia, Talisay City Jail warden, brought the matter before the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) after he was held hostage by one of their inmates early last month.
During the meeting, Inopia said they need an isolation cell within the jail facility so they can discipline detainees who commit violations within the jail.
German national Thomas Michael Ruhland attempted to take Inopia hostage inside his office last Dec. 3.
He was armed with improvised weapons but the warden managed to disarm him.
Ruhland remains detained at the Talisay City Jail.
His privileges as a detainee have been suspended, particularly his visitation rights.
Ruhland was arrested and detained for child abuse and trafficking cases.
Talisay City Councilor Danny Caballero assured Inopia that his request will be relayed to Mayor Johnny de los Reyes.
Caballero sits as vice chairman of the CPOC.
