Shabu worth P200,000 seized from 2 ‘pushers’-A A +A

MORE than 300 packs of suspected shabu were confiscated by police in separate anti-drug operations in Cebu City last Thursday night.
Two alleged drug pushers were also arrested in the joint operation of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force.
The first buy-bust was conducted in Sitio Lamakan, Barangay Pung-ol Sibugay that led to the arrest of Ireneo Ministerio, 26.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, head of CIB, said they confiscated a large and six small packs of shabu worth P100,000 from the suspect.
When interviewed by the media, Ministerio said he resorted to drug peddling to buy medicine for his mother, who suffers from asthma.
Before midnight, operatives arrested Tony Labaya, 51, in a buy-bust in Sitio Sario, Barangay Bulacao.
Seized from his possession were 330 packs of shabu with a street value of around P100,000.
Santander said Labaya is in their watch list of suspected drug personalities.
Considering the number of drugs Labaya could dispose in a week, he said the suspect falls under level two. “Big time sad gyud ni siya (He’s a big-time drug dealer),” Santander said.
The neighborhood sought the help of CIB due to the rampant selling of shabu in the area. The CIB placed Labaya under surveillance, which confirmed his illegal activities.
A police poseur-buyer bought two small packs of shabu worth P300 each from Labaya.
When the transaction was consummated, operatives immediately picked him up.
Santander, when interviewed by Sun.Star Cebu, said they are going after big-time drug pushers to eliminate street peddlers.
He said this is the directive of Police Regional Office 7 Director Danilo Constantino as part of their efforts to stamp out the drug problem in Central Visayas.
The suspects will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
