Ex-Dapitan mayor moves to city jail-A A +A

FORMER Dapitan City Mayor Dominador Jalosjos Jr. has changed his mind on where he intends to continue serving his robbery conviction.
From Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital (CDUH), Jalosjos is now detained at the Cebu City Jail to continue serving his sentence of one year and six months following his conviction for robbery about 44 years ago.
Inocencio dela Cerna, lawyer of Jalosjos, yesterday confirmed that his client was transferred to the city jail on the eve of Valentine’s Day.
Dela Cerna said Jalosjos preferred to continue serving his sentence in the city jail than at the CDU, where he was confined after he surrendered to the police last Jan. 23.
Jalosjos was transferred to the city jail late Thursday afternoon after dela Cerna filed a motion asking Regional Trial Court Branch 10 Judge Soliver Peras to allow Jalosjos to be transferred to the new facility.
In the pleading, dela Cerna asked Peras to transfer Jalosjos to the city jail, saying this is no longer detrimental to his health and well-being.
The judge granted Jalosjos’ appeal.
Jalosjos’s transfer came 15 days after the court ordered his hospital confinement in preparation for his open heart surgery.
Jalosjos, 72, said he yielded to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Central Visayas since his arrest warrant was issued by a Cebu City-based judge.
The arrest warrant stemmed from Jalosjos’s robbery conviction on April 30, 1970 by then Circuit Criminal Court and now Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Cebu City.
