THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 will implement infrastructure projects worth over P300 million in Mandaue City this year.

Works on eight road and drainage projects are expected to start this month or the next, said DPWH 7 Sixth District Engineering Office Assistant Engr. Renult Ricardo.

The projects include the rehabilitation of the drainage along Hernan Cortes St., A.S. Fortuna St., Plaridel St. and M.L. Quezon St., and the repair of a portion of Ouano Ave., with a total cost of P222.3 million.

Traffic signs

Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue Head Edwin Ermac, earlier, advised motorists to follow traffic signs and rules to ease the heavy traffic the projects are expected to cause.

Ermac said he will not implement re-routing as the entire roads will not be closed during the rehabilitation works.

The DPWH 7 will also rehabilitate the Maguikay flyover at the cost of P17.6 million. The project, which was awarded to PLD Construction, is expected to be completed in 190 calendar days.

The PLD will also implement the P44.2-million improvement project of the Ouano Ave. causeway, which is expected to be completed within 150 days.

The PB Obial Construction will undertake the P44.5-million drainage improvement project on AS Fortuna St., from Cabancalan to corner M. Logarta. The P44.2-million drainage project on Plaridel St. will be done by the Jegma Construction and Development Corp. Both projects are expected to be completed within a year.

Drainage

The DPWH 7 awarded the P45.3-million drainage project on the Hernan Cortes St. to the Square Cube Construction, which will complete the project within a year.

The WTG Construction and Virlo Construction and Development Corp. will undertake another P44.6-million drainage rehabilitation along A.S. Fortuna, from corner M.C. Briones St. onwards. The WTG will also do the P43.7-drainage rehabilitation project along the M.L. Quezon St. Both projects are expected to be completed within a year.

The EG and I Construction will build a center island on A.C. Cortes Ave., a P26.7-million project that is expected to be completed within 80 calendar days.

Ermac said the Team, which recently hired 20 more traffic enforcers, will deploy more personnel on the affected roads.
