BARELY two weeks after its branch in Cebu City was robbed, an LBC outlet
in Barangay Libertad, Bogo City lost P70,000 cash to two unidentified men
yesterday.

It was the third LBC outlet that got robbed this month. The first one happened in Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City and was followed by a robbery in Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City.

Chief Inspector Germano Mallari, the city police chief, said the two robbers entered the establishment before 9 a.m. and immediately declared a hold-up.

One of the robbery suspects, clad in sweatshirt, cargo short pants and a blue cap, pulled out a .38 revolver and held the three employees at gunpoint. They are branch manager Melecio Maitom and customer associates Angel Mary Estrera and Camelo Damos. All are natives of Bogo City.

The robbers brought the employees at the back of the establishment while they searched for the money.

The other robber wore shirt, jeans and a cap. For few minutes, they searched the area and found the P70,000 cash, a mobile phone worth P7,000 and a pocket Wi-Fi.

Mallari told Sun.Star Cebu the robbery was over in less than five minutes,
without any commotion.

The robbers fled on board a black getaway motorcycle without a plate number.

A follow-up operation was conducted by police.

The police intercepted two men in the nearby Medellin town, but they were
later released after police did not found any basis to hold them.

According to a witness, two motorcycles left the area after the robbery.

Mallari said he is not discounting the possibility that there were other suspects who served as lookouts.

Mallari, during the interview, revealed they are already processing the
footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in LBC.

The LBC outlet has no security guard.

Police are now checking their rogue’s gallery and coordinating with other police units for possible identification of the robbers. (DSM)
