THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 3.8 earthquake at 2:58 p.m. yesterday.
Phivolcs said the earthquake’s epicenter was 28 kilometers from Tagbilaran City, Bohol and had a depth of 13 kilometers.
Some residents in Tagbilaran and Cebu City felt the tremor but were not alarmed.
“Naanad na mi ani (We’ve gotten used to it),” said 5i-year-old Jaime Arberolos, who was on the third floor of a four-story building in Tagbilaran City. “Wa na mi ma-phobia (We are not afraid anymore).”
Arberolos said they have been feeling tremors in the last three months.
The United States Geological Survey reported the same earthquake yesterday as having a magnitude of 4.6 and an epicenter located three kilometers northwest of Inabanga, Bohol at a depth of 10 kilometers.
No one was reported injured during the quake.
Phivolcs reported that the earthquake was felt as intensity four in Antequera, three in Tagbilaran City and Lila town and two in Dauis, all in Bohol. Cebu City felt the same tremor at intensity two.
The epicenter of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake on Oct. 15, 2013 was in Sagbayan, Bohol, which is located southwest of Inabanga.
Arberolos told Sun.Star Cebu that some of his officemates went out of the building upon feeling the tremor. He said he felt like being swayed.
He said a weaker tremor occurred about two hours prior to the 3.8 magnitude earthquake.
When the stronger tremor stopped after 15 seconds, he called his wife, Alie, who was at home that time.
Alie, in a separate interview, said she did not notice the ground shake because she was doing laundry.
Arberolos said most of his fellow workers on the ground floor were not able to feel the quake.
