INSTEAD of celebrating Mother’s Day with her family, a 34-year-old mother was jailed after she was arrested in a buy-bust in Cebu City over the weekend.
Marylin Magallano, a mother of three, was arrested by the operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) on Palma St., Barangay San Roque at 10 p.m. Saturday.
She allegedly yielded five sachets and eight medium packs of suspected shabu during the buy-bust. Police estimated the confiscated drugs to have a street value of P160,000.
Magallano’s alleged cohort Kristopher Arrogante, 37, was also arrested during the operation.
CIB Chief Romeo Santander said that Magallano is a level two drug pusher, who could dispose at least 200 grams of shabu every week. He said Magallano is a member of a drug group in the city.
Police conducted the operation against Magallano after receiving a tip about her alleged illegal drug activities. She was placed under surveillance for two weeks, where CIB reportedly confirmed her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
On Saturday night, a police decoy closed a deal with Magallano.
Magallano, who was with Arrogante during the operation, was arrested after she reportedly handed over the illegal drugs. Both drug suspects did not resist arrest.
According to the information that reached Santander, Magallano has been into selling drugs for over a year. She reportedly gets her supplies from a known drug personality in Cebu City.
Sun.Star Cebu tried to interview Magallano at her detention cell at the Cebu City Police Office headquarters, but she declined. Like Magallano, Arrogante also refused to comment on his arrest.
Complaints of selling and possession of illegal drugs, a violation of Republic aCt 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against Magallano and Arrogante.
