A MAN died yesterday after stabbing himself with his grandfather’s bolo.
Henrito Aniñon, 24, from Barangay Jumangpas, Samboan, Cebu died a day after he stabbed himself in the stomach.

According to the investigation conducted by PO3 Bethoven Rocamora Jr., Aniñon and his family were enjoying the afternoon talking and eating biscuits at their home.

Aniñon later asked for permission to go to the kitchen, saying he was thirsty.

But in the kitchen, he got hold of his grandfather’s 15-inch bolo and stabbed himself.

Mario, the grandfather, ran to the kitchen after hearing weeping sounds and called other family members for help when he saw his bloodied grandson on the floor.

Responding policemen and health workers arrived in an ambulance and rushed Aniñon to Malabuyoc District Hospital.

He was transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Friday evening.

Blood loss

In an interview with Sun.Star Cebu, PO1 Jayson John Hiramis, desk officer of Samboan Police Station, said they were told by the victim’s sister Melissa that his brother died yesterday morning due to loss of blood. Aniñon’s family said he was a loner and had recently suffered a nervous breakdown.

They said he had no personal grudges with them or anyone. (Arvin Matthew N. Paculaba, CNU Comm Intern)
