THE lawyer of the hospital involved in the taping of a baby’s mouth urged the parents of the infant to put all of their accusations “under oath.”

In an interview yesterday, lawyer Cornelio Mercado, who represents the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House (CPCMH), urged Ryan Noval and his partner Jasmine Badocdoc to file sworn affidavits.

“Lisud kaayo nga adto lang ta sa social media maghimo-himo og accusations. They should provide their details under oath,” Mercado said.

Bad light

Mercado said Noval and his partner have placed the hospital and its nurses in a bad light.

“They posted those pictures without even getting our side of the incident,” he said.

He said the careers of the nurses blamed in the incident are also put at risk.

Mercado said that aside from their affidavits, the parents should also present the contents of the cellular phone or the memory card containing the pictures of the baby.

Pictures

He said one of the nurses caught the parents taking pictures of other babies at the nursery during the incident.

Mercado said the hospital is willing to participate in the investigation by the Department of Health (DOH) and other agencies.

He also urged the DOH and the Regional Subcommittee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) to review the case.

Mercado urged Noval and his partner to “tell the truth”.

In a text message to Sun.Star Cebu yesterday, Noval said he plans to issue a statement today in response to the hospital’s statements.

For now, he urged the media to allow his family to rest.

“We’re trying to enjoy our weekend as a family so please be patient,” Noval said.

The DOH and the RSCWC have stated that they will conduct their own investigation on the incident once the hospital has concluded its probe.

But the hospital has also welcomed a joint inquiry with all investigating partiest.
