A POLICEMAN who was previously caught for robbery was arrested again by police during a saturation drive in Sitio Tuburan, Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City on Friday night.

His companion Kenner Rodriguez, a son of a retired police officer, was also arrested. An unlicensed .357 and .38 revolvers were confiscated from Rodriguez.

Senior Insp. Michaelangelo Beltran, head of Punta Princesa Police Station, said they conducted a saturation drive past 9 p.m. in Sitio Tuburan, which is known for illegal activities.

He said Manuel and Rodriguez were shocked upon seeing the policemen.
“They probably came from a pot session in the area,” Beltran told Sun.Star Cebu, adding that the two men will be subjected to a drug test.

Manuel, who is assigned at the Cebu City Public Safety Company of the Cebu City Police Office, was arrested last February after he was accused of robbing a woman on R.R. Landon St.

He went to Fuente Police Station to clear his name, but got detained after the complainant positively identified him as one of the robbers.

“Wala na kuno ni siya’y report-report sa trabaho,” Beltran said.

Manuel is reportedly out on bail for the robbery case.

His companion, Rodriguez, 21, used to be a member of the Crips gang.
Beltran received reports that Rodriguez used to carry firearms with him and fire these indiscriminately.

In a separate incident, a policeman got wounded after he was stabbed by a drug suspect while they were having breakfast in an islet of Bantayan Island early Friday morning.

PO1 George Gilbuela of Bantayan Police Station sustained a stab wound in his right hand.

Sefridell Ribo, 32, is also recuperating in Bantayan District Hospital after he stabbed himself in the chest.

Investigation showed Ribo was caught by policemen in Barangay Hilutongan sniffing drugs in a secluded area.

Three small packs of shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia were confiscated from Ribo.

The policemen were deployed in the islet for its fiesta celebration.
While they were waiting for a motorized banca that would take Ribo to the police station, they ate breakfast in a store past 7 a.m.

The policemen removed the handcuffs on Ribo so he can eat properly.

However, Ribo got hold of a knife and suddenly attacked Gilbuela.

Complaints for illegal possession of drugs and frustrated murder will be filed against the suspect. (DSM)
