Buzz: ‘Hello Garci’ digs up past of Poe allies

AFTER Sen. Grace Po delivered her privileged speech about “Hello Garci,” her dad Fernando Poe Jr., and the fraud in the 2004 elections; Sens. Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, Koko Pimentel and Jinggoy Estrada spoke to support her and pay tribute to FPJ.

Jinggoy, smarting from the flak he’s been getting lately, swiped at Cayetano, saying Alan Peter supported Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

When Poe said that not everyone was perfect, “what is important is to see the mistake” and “change heart to what is right from what is wrong,” Jinggoy asked, “Are there senators here who, after the Garci issue came out, did not support FPJ and still believed and continued supporting GMA?” Poe said she couldn’t remember anyone and
Jinggoy retorted, “Mayroon!”

If you want to know who some of them are, rewind and recall what Jinggoy’s dad, Erap Estrada, said last 2013 in Cagayan de Oro City.

At a press-con, Erap mentioned Sen. Franklin Drilon and then senator Kiko “Mr. Sharon Cuneta” Pangilinan who, Erap said, blocked attempts during the canvassing of the presidential votes in 2014 to expose the cheating. “Wasn’t it Drilon? And his assistant Pangilinan? What did he say ‘Noted, noted?”

In resurrecting the “Hello Garci” issue, Poe also unwittingly dug up skeletons in the closet of her now allies in the LP administration, notably Drilon, the senatorial team campaign manager in 2013.

Almendras is seventh richest

Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras from Cebu is the seventh richest in net worth among 34 members of PNoy’s official family. Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale’s brother reported a net worth of P119,841,097.67 (from P115.400 million in 2013).

The poorest is not Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman (P3,680,000), #33, but Education Secretary Armin Luistro (P433,392.17).

That would make Luistro poorer than many of his division chiefs and district supervisors.

Richest is still Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario: P765,379,281.02 (from P705.481 million in 2013).

Sonny’s Toledo City in turmoil

Toledo City Mayor Sonny Osmeña is being seen in an unflattering light after his political rivals disclosed that while City Hall workers still had to be paid, he (the mayor) had already collected his midyear bonus, clothing allowance, Rata, etc.

What would his “favorite” relative, the former congressman, say to that?

WHO rules on pacifiers

WHAT BABY-TAPING STORIES FAIL to tell readers:

-- Whether the World Health Organization pitch against pacifiers resulted in a direct order of the Department of Health that is implemented by health facilities; and

-- Whether the order has been laid down and enforced in Cebu Puericulture Center Maternity House.
