A CHIEF security officer of a motorcycle distributor was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle in Barangay Cogon, Compostela, Cebu last Friday night.
Rey Bacud, 28, died from four gunshot wounds on the face, head and back. PO2 Emil Rubilla of Compostela Police Station said the victim was heading home after his shift at 7:45 p.m. when he was shot.
The unidentified assailants were believed to have been waiting for Bacud in a dark area and shot him at close range.
Bacud was rushed to the Danao City District Hospital but didn't make it alive.
Rubilla, when interviewed by Sun.Star Cebu, said they are looking into the attack as work-related.
Bacud's widow gave police a name of a person whom the victim had a misunderstanding with. Police are now looking into it.
Bacud worked for Norkis Yamaha Group since 1996 and eventually got promoted as chief security officer.
"He caused the ouster of some employees and caused the arrest of some. It seemed that he worked well because the owner trusted him," Rubilla added.
Meanwhile, a man identified as a police asset was shot and wounded in Barangay Lorega San Miguel at midnight, Friday.
Raul Miñoza, 40, was allegedly shot by his neighbor Michael Villaceran wounding him on the face and left leg.
Villaceran confronted Miñoza for being an asset and poked a gun at him.
Miñoza fended it off but Villaceran still successfully fired two shots that hit the victim.
The victim told police that his neighbors were miffed at him for supposedly leaking information that led to a raid in the neighborhood last month. (DSM)
