Suspects in robbery, theft of 6 vehicles face charges-A A +A

CASES of carnapping and three counts of robbery with physical injury will be filed against the suspects in the stealing of six vehicles and shooting of two persons.
Manuel Richards Corominas and 14-year-old John (real name withheld) were apprehended by the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) on Sunday dawn.
Police are still searching for a certain “Tambok” believed to be a cohort of the two.
Corominas will also face a murder case for the shooting of Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella’s nephew Rolan Colina last April.
Corominas was arrested in Sitio Upper Day-as, Barangay Day-as, while John was apprehended in Barangay Calamba Cebu City at 1 a.m. Sunday.
The CIB and Parian Police Station arrested Corominas after receiving a tip that he regularly visited their house at dawn.
A fragmentation grenade, a .45 pistol and a 38 revolver were recovered from him.
John confessed about his involvement with Corominas’s criminal activities.
John said he was with Corominas and “Tambok” in planning to rob a businessman in Talisay City last Sunday.
CIB Chief Supt. Romeo Santander said the suspects’ target was not there, so they picked another victim.
“Murag ilang target wala nila mabantayi. Murag wala niagi siguro kay mag-motor man kuno ni padulong uli. This is reportedly a businessman involved in a lending business. We will still check,” Santander told the media on Monday.
In looking for another victim, the two stole six vehicles and shot two persons.
Corominas, who earlier denied his involvement on the robbery incident, admitted Monday that what they did was unplanned.
Before the arrest, John was often seen with Corominas.
Santander said they will file a case against the minor and they will let the court decide.
“We will include him (John) in the case and let the court decide because he is involved in various incidents. Most likely, he really had a participation,” said Santander.
Aside from the stealing of vehicles last week and the shooting of Colina, four other cases have been filed against Corominas.
He was allegedly the one who shot dead Teodorico Tolentino on May 29 in Barangay Labangon; and Victoriano Balungkit and Jerome Pasolohan on May 8 in Talisay City. He was also tagged in a carnapping case in Minglanilla Cebu on May 8. (JTR)
