OF the 58 randomly selected barangay employees of Adlaon, Cebu City, only one tested positive for illegal drugs during a surprise drug test conducted by the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) yesterday.

Barangay Adlaon was the 37th barangay to have a surprise drug test.

Dr. Alice Utlang, Cosap executive director, recommended that instead of having the employee terminated, he should undergo Cosap’s We Care rehabilitation program for one month.

She said that if the employee shows changes, he will be allowed to continue his work in the barangay. If not, the barangay captain will decide.

We Care is a three-month program for barangay employees tested positive for drug use.

Utlang said people who test positive for drug use are considered sick and in need of help. Zash Del Pilar, USJR- Mass Com Intern
