THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 escorted an alleged bomber and member of the Moro National Liberation
Front (MNLF) after he was transferred from Sulu to the Cebu City Jail last Monday.

CIDG 7 Assistant Deputy Rey Dian Corales said Hamjuda Mihaji, who is facing a multiple murder case for allegedly killing two United States (US) Navy officers in 2009, was transferred to Cebu City Jail on the request of the witnesses from the US Army.

Mihaji was arrested by the CIDG Zamboanga last June 1 by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Bensaudi Arabani Sr. of the Regional Trial Court in Sulu.

He is considered a high-risk detainee allegedly because of his role in the bombing activities of MNLF.

The witnesses have requested that the court hearings be held in Cebu for fear that the MNLF would retaliate if the hearings are done in Sulu.

Corales said that last Monday, they picked up Mihaji from the airport and escorted him to the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 under Judge Alexander Acosta, who granted the request to transfer the suspect to the Cebu City Jail.

Aside from allegedly killing two US Army officers, Mihaji’s name was also tagged in the killing of a Philippine Marine officer in Sulu.

Mihaji reportedly makes bombs for the MNLF. He is described to be a bomb expert.

Cebu City Jail warden Johnson Calub said that they have placed Mihaji under maximum security considering the suspect’s background.
