CEBU -- The reward for those who can give information leading to the arrest of the man who shot and killed businessman Richard King in Davao City last June 12 is now P1.3 million.

Police have already released a facial composite of the gunman.

Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr., Davao City Police Office director, said the King family will give the P1 million, while the Davao City Government will shoulder the P300,000.

In a phone interview on Tuesday, Danao said they hope the amount will encourage more witnesses to come forward.

The King family initially offered P200,000 as reward.

Danao said he and members of the Special Investigation Task Group Richard King held a conference on Tuesday.

He said they agreed to release the facial composite to the public to help them identify the gunman.

According to witnesses, the gunman is in his 30s, at least 5’5” in height, weighs at least 65 kilos and has fair complexion.

In a related development, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Central Visayas Director Max Salvador said he will discuss the case with his counterpart in Davao City when they meet in Manila on Thursday.

He said the NBI Davao City has asked his office for information on King, but he refused to elaborate.

NBI Davao City is conducting the main investigation on King’s murder, while the NBI-Central Visayas will just assist, Salvador said.

He said they received a letter-request from King’s brother Rafael last Friday.

King was having dinner with his employees last Thursday when he was shot dead by a lone gunman inside the Vital C Bldg. in Davao City.

Investigators are having difficulty in identifying the gunman because the building has no closed-circuit television camera.

King was chairman and chief executive officer of J. King & Sons Co. Inc., developer of Crown Regency, Club Ultima and the City Suites Ramos Tower. He was also the founder and director of Boracay Multiple Properties Inc. (Sun.Star Cebu)
