A SECOND-YEAR high school student was believed to have committed suicide after she was reportedly bullied by her classmates in Barangay Paril, Barili, Cebu on Tuesday.
Elsa (real name withheld) was found by her uncle hanging inside her room with an electrical cord tied around her neck and the other end attached to a beam.
PO2 Jutimar Quijano of the Barili Police Station said they did not notice any disarray of things inside the room that would suggest a foul play.
According to the information gathered by the police from the victim’s aunt, Elsa reportedly got mad after her classmates bullied her at school that day.
The alleged bullying happened after Elsa’s younger brother, who is reportedly a special child, followed her to school last Tuesday morning.
Elsa’s classmates reportedly saw her younger brother, and started teasing her because of her younger brother’s condition.
At 5 p.m. when Elsa arrived home from school, she reportedly lamented why her brother followed her to school, as she was teased by her classmates. Then she went inside her room. Elsa, who is the second of five children, was under the care of her aunt because her parents are reportedly working in Cebu City.
At 7 p.m., Elsa’s uncle decided to open the door of her room after the latter did not answer several calls for dinner. The uncle found Elsa already hanging from a beam.
Meanwhile, a married man shot himself in the head in front of his girlfriend inside his multicab in Barangay Poblacion I, Carcar City, Cebu last Monday.
PO1 Miguel Bernabe of Carcar City Police Station said Peter (real name withheld), 33, of Barangay Kayam, City of Naga died from a gunshot wound in his head.
Family problem was seen by the police as the reason that drove Peter, a driver, to take his life.
“Puno na kuno kaayo iyang ulo sa problema (He was reportedly fed up with his problem),” Bernabe told Sun.Star Cebu but didn’t elaborate what the problem was all about.
It was Peter’s second suicide attempt. Earlier this month, he allegedly tried to end his life by putting a rope in his neck. He was stopped by his girlfriend Maria, legal age, of Barangay Tuyan, Naga.
According to the information gathered by the police, the lovers were talking inside the yellow multicab (GXA-130) past 2 a.m. when Peter suddenly pulled out a gun, aimed it in his right ear and then pulled the trigger.
The gunshot alarmed some residents, prompting them to call for police help.
Peter was taken to the Carcar Provincial Hospital. He died on the way to the hospital.
Police recovered the .38 revolver allegedly used by Peter in killing himself. It has five bullets and an empty shell in the cylinder.
Maria, on the hand, agreed to undergo a paraffin test to clear her name of the incident.
