THREE separate suicide incidents happened in different towns in Cebu over the weekend.
Inocencio Caballero, 32, was seen by his mother hanging inside his house in Barangay Poblacion Ward 1, Minglanilla last Sunday morning.
The victim tied an electrical cord around his neck and tied the other end to a beam.
PO2 Arnel Resente of Minglanilla Police Station said Caballero was last seen alive outside his house at 3 a.m. last Sunday.
“Nakit-an man to siya sa kapitan nga nanghinuktok ug nagbaid og sundang (the barangay captain saw him in deep thought while sharpening a bolo),” said Resente.
Resente said that according to the mother’s victim, Caballero might have been feeling depressed because of a family problem.
Caballero had been separated from his wife for six months while their three children are living with his mother. He is living alone in their house.
Police operatives who responded to the incident tried to bring the victim to the hospital. But the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
In Samboan, a 38-year-old man allegedly killed himself in Sitio Ponong, Barangay Poblacion last Saturday afternoon.
Danilo Mirasol was found dead inside their room by his live-in partner, Alma Dicklaro, 37.
Mirasol reportedly hanged himself on a beam using a rope tied around his neck.
PO1 John Hiramis, of Samboan Police Station, said that Mirasol was said to be experiencing financial problems.
“Nagproblema man to siya sa kwarta kay walay permante nga trabaho (He didn’t have work),” Hiramis said.
Hiramis said the victim had attempted to kill himself thrice.
Upon seeing his husband hanging, Dicklaro cut the rope and rushed him to Malabuyoc District Hospital. But it was too late.
In Lilioan, a wife tried to end her life inside her room in Barangay Yati last Sunday evening.
Eliza Saiton, 38, was seen by her husband stabbing herself using a kitchen knife. Her husband grabbed the knife from her, wounding himself in the process.
Saiton was wounded in her abdomen.
The victim was taken to Eversly Hospital and was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Police said Saiton was left alone inside the room that time while her children and husband had dinner.
Saiton was believed to be depressed because of personal problems. Nheru Bonoan Veraflor, USJ-R Mass Com Intern
