Tuesday, May 26, 2015

RESIDENTS of Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City were alarmed early yesterday morning to see a 25-year-old security guard on the roof of a church in an attempt to commit suicide.

The man was with Blue Breed Security Agency (BBSA) in Barangay Pajo and a resident of Sitio Abuno, Barangay Pajac.

Ricky (not his real name) was believed to have been suffering from a mental disorder.

PO1 Marlou Bretania, of Lapu-Lapu Police Station 2, said Ricky climbed the roof of Glory Baptist Church in Sitio Bukid, Barangay Pajac and pulled out the cross at 6 a.m.

Murag wa na sa saktong pangisip. Iyang kabuhi nisaka pud (He was not in his right mind),” Bretania said.

PO2 Niño Mancao said Ricky had been on the roof since 10 p.m. last Monday.

A resident reported the matter to police.

PO3 Wilson Manikro and PO1 Rodney Godinez climbed the roof to convince Ricky to go down. Police brought him down after two hours.

Calm down

A TV5 Aksyon Bisaya report said that while police officers talked to Ricky and asked him to calm down, the security guard started sharing his family problems.

In the same report, Ricky said he removed the cross from the top of the church because he wanted to use it against three persons who were after him.

Drugs

Ricky was reportedly using illegal drugs a few days before the incident.

Bretania said Ricky was temporarily staying at the police station to keep him from harm.

The police officer said they are waiting if someone will a file a complaint against him.

Ricky’s parents and a sister said he is suffering from mental disorder.

Ricky calmed down after he was given a meal.

Dely Nena, accounting staff of of BBSA, said Ricky only reported for three days and went on unofficial leave.

Nena said they required him to submit a result of the drug test examination but he failed to show any.
