SEVEN persons were arrested in police operations in Toledo City and Bohol last Thursday.
Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 confiscated five firearms from Lloyd Gonzaga, 33, and Romarico “Rex” Templado, 32, during an authorized search in Barangay Tawala, Panglao, Bohol.
At 6:30 a.m., elements of CIDG in Cebu and Bohol conducted a police operation with a search warrant against Gonzaga. The warrant was issued by Judge Jennifer Marcos, vice executive judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 2 of Tagbilaran City.
Police seized two .45 pistols with serial numbers, a 357 revolver, a 38 revolver, a shotgun, three silencers and 53 bullets from the suspects.
A small sachet of shabu worth P600 was also seized.
The price of shabu has reportedly doubled in the nearby islands since the start of the government’s crackdown on illegal drugs.
They will be charged for the violation of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591, or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and explosives.
In Toledo City last Wednesday, five persons were caught with P48,320 worth of shabu.
The arrested persons were Roque Bayohin Jr., 40, Avelino Sumbelon, 24, Rene Cuizon, 29, Armando Bayohin, 37 and Junel Seville, 30.
At 11:30 p.m., operatives conducted a buy-bust in Sitio San Juan, Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City.
It resulted in the arrest of Bayohin after he allegedly sold shabu to a police decoy.
Confiscated from them were eight different sizes of plastic sachets believed to contain shabu weighing more or less 12.08 grams.
They will be charged for illegal possession of drugs.
In Talisay City, two were arrested, including a minor, in an anti-illegal drugs operation last Thursday afternoon in Sitio Magay, Barangay Tanke.
A police team led by SPO3 Vincent Taladua and arrested Abundia Almacin, 22, and a 17-year-old boy, both from the barangay.
Police conducted the operation after they received information that Alma Almacin, 48, was dealing illegal drugs in the area.
Taladua alleged that Alma is the mother of the two suspects.
When they arrived at the area, the siblings were having a pot session.
Upon sensing that she was transacting with a police officer, Alma escaped.
Police confiscated three small sachets of suspected shabu from Abundia and a small sachet of suspected shabu from the minor.
The items have a total estimated street value of P1,000.
Abundia is now detained in Talisay City detention cell, while the boy will be under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD), PO3 Junyl Ater said.
Alma, who is still at large, will face charges. Jyda Yeecynth Ang, USJ-R Intern
