CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña found the recent greyhound operation in the City Jail a good development, despite allegations that information about it was leaked.
Unlike previous operations, the search conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 7 Friday dawn yielded “little” evidence.
“It’s a good sign if the search was done properly. The speculations will always be there, but I don’t think so (that there was a leakage),” Osmeña said.
PDEA 7 Director Yogi Ruiz said they found five grams of white crystals believed to be shabu, cellphones and bladed weapons.
They also found a notebook containing a list of names, believed to be customers of an inmate selling drugs inside the jail.
Based on the inmates’ behavior and the evidence gathered, Ruiz suspects that they knew about the search.
Councilor Dave Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters, said that if the alleged leakage is confirmed, those responsible will be dealt with accordingly.
