THE six "suspicious-looking" men held by the police in Oslob town, southern Cebu for questioning on Thursday night, April 20, are not members of a terror group, an intelligence officer said.
The officer, who requested anonymity, said the six men were cleared and released past 10 a.m., Friday, April 21, after a police officer vouched that one of the men is his relative.
On Thursday night, the police stopped the van, which ferried five Muslim men from Lanao del Norte and a Christian man from Iloilo City, in Barangay Tan-awan, Oslob.
The police found inside the van some toy guns and clothes, which the men sell in town fiestas.
During the Holy Week, they were in Bantayan Island to sell their merchandise. They dropped off two of their companions in Balamban and they were on their way to Negros Oriental for another fiesta, when they were held in Oslob. (SunStar Philippines/SunStar Cebu)
