Town’s most wanted injured in shootout

Monday, June 19, 2017

AN elusive suspected leader of a criminal gang who is facing murder cases was captured in Barangay Agbalanga, Moalboal, southern Cebu at 10 a.m. last Sunday.

William Salonoy, 40, was caught by the team led by Chief Insp. Jose Rovic Villarin, the town police chief.

The suspect is number one in the most wanted list of Dalaguete Police Station.

Police served the warrants of arrest issued by Argao Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 Judge Maximo Perez and Surigao City RTC Branch 30 Judge Victor Casoy.

Salonoy has two pending murder cases before the sala of Perez and one before Casoy’s.

Villarin’s team, joined by the operatives of Dalaguete Police Station, implemented the warrants at 3:30 p.m. last Saturday.

He opened fire at the police. The police retaliated.

Salonoy was wounded in both feet but still managed to flee to the woods. The police pursued and caught him.

In October 2014, Salonoy was allegedly part of the armed men who engaged in a shootout with the police in simultaneous raids in the mountainous parts of Alcoy and Dalaguete.

He escaped with three other men, while three of his comrades were killed. Ten others were arrested.

He allegedly hid in Moalboal because he was used as a hitman by a drug personality.
