1 person dead, 3 others injured in Danao landslide

A MAN died while three others were injured Monday afternoon, July 17, after a portion of land in a quarry site in Tuburan Sur village, Danao City, Cebu, fell onto them.

Police identified the fatality as Jessie Olivar, who suffered injuries in the head and other parts of his body.

His companions Clarito Morio, 57; Daniel Capute, 65; and Vicente Hermoso, 66, survived the incident.

Senior Police Officer 1 Arnold Labine of Danao City Police Station the victims earn their living by quarrying sand and gravel.

"Sagunson man ang uwan pila na ka adlaw mao tong nahumok ang yuta, natumpag ug natabunan sila," he said.

The city's rescue team, police, and neighbors helped in retrieving the victims.

Last Saturday afternoon, July 15, Lloyd Bario drowned in the river swelled by flood in Cabungahan village, Danao City. His friend is still missing. (KAL)
