A GRANDSON of Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas and brother of Rep. Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas (Cebu, 1st district) and Talisay City Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III topped the September 2017 Physician Licensure examination.

First in rank with the score of 90.5 percent was Vincent Edouard Anthony R. Gullas, a University of Santo Tomas graduate.

Congressman Gullas posted on his Facebook page that his brother finished medical technology at Velez College in Cebu City.

He said his brother also topped the Medical Technology Licensure Examination five years ago.

Mark Andrian Yano, a graduate from the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM), also landed seventh in the board exam conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission.

Yano ranked seventh with a score of 89.50 percent.

“I think we were the first batch who only had two months to review. I did a self-review but with the help of some consultants mentoring me,” said Yano, adding that his achievement was unexpected because of how difficult he found the exam.

“It has always been my dream to be a doctor—ever since I was a child. I was exposed to the medical field at a young age,” Yano said, adding that his interest stemmed from his parents being both medical technologists.

Yano dreams of one day specializing in infectious disease.

Apart from wanting to thank his family for their unwavering support, he also thanked the Lord.

Other topnotchers were Jan David Monzon and Robert Caradang Rena, graduates of the De La Salle University-Health Sciences Institute, who both got a score of 90.08.

CIM had a 100-percent passing rate, while the Cebu Doctors’ University-College of Medicine had a a 93.64-percent passing rate. (with EOB)
