Man nabbed for 'raping' 10-year-old girl

A 42-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl around 7 a.m. Thursday, October 5, in Don Andres Soriano Village, Toledo City, Cebu.

Suspect Polito Villarmea Andrade was caught by the Provincial Public Safety Company personnel led by Police Officer 3 Eugene Macapaz.

Andrade was accused of raping the girl, a grade two pupil, around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 4.

The Women and Children's Protection Desk of Toledo City Police Station will charge the suspect with rape in relation to Republic Act (RA) 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

RA 7610 defines child abuse as maltreatment of a minor, which includes “psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment” and “any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of a child as a human being.” (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
