FIFTY-EIGHT personnel of Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 are reportedly involved in illegal activities, including drug trafficking and illegal gambling.
The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) is first on the list with 36 erring cops, according to the statistics kept by PRO 7 last month.
Administrative complaints were filed against seven of them, while criminal charges were lodged against seven others. Seventeen CPPO officers were transferred outside PRO 7.
Mandaue City Police Office has 10 erring officers; Cebu City Police Office, five; Bohol Provincial Police Office, five; and Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, two.
PRO 7 Director Jose Mario Espino said that 121 erring officers were relieved and assigned in far-flung police offices outside the region.
Investigators of Regional Internal Affairs Service 7 have conducted 24 lifestyle checks and 13 officers are facing administrative and criminal complaints before the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices.
The respondents are seven superintendents, a chief inspector, a senior inspector, a senior police officer 4, two senior police officer 2s, and a police officer 3.
Six PRO 7 personnel were arrested for selling shabu, while two others (PO3 Irmon Tutor Butil and PO3 Ryan Martus Quiamco) were killed in drug busts. (KAL)
