POLICE Officer 2 Aristeo Tampus, the anti-narcotics operative who got wounded in a drug bust in San Fernando town, Cebu, said he felt elated that President Rodrigo Duterte gave him an award on Monday, February 12, in Police Regional Office-Central Visayas headquarters in Cebu City.

The president awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the rank of Kampilan to the police officer, who was accompanied by his family.

"Karon pa ko kadawat ani nga award," Tampus said.

Tampus also received a .45 pistol and P100,000 worth of financial assistance from Duterte.

Last February 4, Tampus was hit in the left arm as he grappled for the gun with suspected pusher Benjamin Acero Jr., who was later killed by the police.

The award encouraged Tampus to work hard.

"Mas ganahan pa kong motrabaho og maayo (I’m inspired to work harder)," he said. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
