SIX minors, who are Grade 11 students of a private school in Mandaue City, were accused of raping an 18-year-old girl.
Chief Insp. Wilbert Parilla, chief of Mandaue Police Station 5, said the attack happened in the apartment of three of the suspects in Barangay Looc.
Parilla said that the six male minors and the complainant, who is a high school student of a public school, and her 21-year-old sister drank alcohol in that apartment last Thursday.
Four of the suspects are 16 years old, while two others are 17 years old.
According to Parilla, the three suspects who rented the apartment are from Masbate.
The suspects and Ana (not her real name) and her sister reportedly started drinking at 10 p.m. last Thursday and ended at 4 a.m. yesterday. They consumed two bottles of brandy.
Parilla told reporters that Ana’s sister was the one who found out what allegedly happened around 4 a.m. She called the police.
The group drank liquor in the living room, but Ana was allegedly raped in a room located on the upper level of the apartment.
“Nakabantay siya nga magpulipuli og saka-kanaug mao to iyang gisaka. Naabtan niya ang usa nga naa didto. Diha na nisulti iyang manghud nga gihilabtan siya (She noticed that the boys took turns going up to the upper level. She caught one of them when she, too, went upstairs. That’s when her sister told her about the attack),” said Parilla.
One of the suspects, Jake (not his real name), 17, posted on Facebook that his friends had gathered for a drinking session. Jake said that Ana’s sister, who is an ex-girlfriend of his friend, told him that she wanted to join.
He said he had met Ana’s sister in several gatherings before.
Jake denied that he was among those who raped Ana, claiming that he, another suspect, and Ana’s sister stayed in the living room.
The complainant was reportedly brought to the room in the upper level because she was drunk.
The rest of the suspects also denied that they raped her. However, two of them admitted that they touched her private parts.
Parilla said they will wait for the result of an examination in the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. (FMG)
