THE police woman who was with the police officer before the latter was shot dead on Tuesday afternoon, March 13, in Minglanilla, Cebu has been relieved from her post and will face an investigation.
Senior Superintendent Edgar Alan Okubo, the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) director, said the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch will conduct the inquiry on Senior Police Officer 2 Maricor Aliganga of Naga City Police Station.
Aliganga had a transaction with a money transfer firm before Police Officer 2 Romeo Bolaño was shot by assailants on board a sports utility vehicle.
Okubo said they will check the reports about Bolaño's alleged connections with self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones.
The police official said they will also invite the money transfer firm to divulge Aliganga’s transaction.
Bolaño was assigned last October 2016 in personnel holding and accounting unit of Camp Crame while facing investigation on his alleged involvement in illegal drug trade.
Last September 2016, Bolaño was transferred to the Cordillera police.
Okubo has ordered Minglanilla Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation on the murder and check closed-circuit television cameras of establishments near the crime scene. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
