EVEN after Michael Domingo made a statement by easily disposing of Luis Melendez, many champions are still not interested in facing him.
ALA Promotions, through matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz, has been negotiating for a world title fight against interim World Boxing Organization bantamweight titlist Eric Morel.
However, Morel’s camp doesn’t want to have anything to do with the 30-year-old Domingo, who is known to upset his more talented opponents.

“Right now, from the talks yesterday (Friday), I think Domingo won’t get that fight with Morel,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star-Cebu in an interview yesterday.
“Morel is waiting for Jorge Arce’s injury to heal,” he added.
Morel was supposed to take on WBO super flyweight champion Arce next month but the veteran Mexican suffered a huge gash in his first day of sparring.
Domingo, who is from Sultan Kudarat, was already rejected by two other world champions–WBO and World Boxing Council bantamweight titleholder Fernando Montiel and International Boxing Federation bantamweight king Yonnhy Perez.
“Maybe (Morel’s camp) heard about the reputation of Domingo and they believe he’s a high-risk, low-reward opponent,” said Aldeguer.
Domingo scored a second-round knockout over Melendez after landing a well-timed liver shot to the right rib area last Sunday at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino.
If ALA Promotions fail to sign Domingo to a fight with Morel, the Cebu-based promotional outfit has an alternate plan.
“We have discussed this case with Michael and he deserves a world-title fight. The next best thing will be for him to be a mandatory opponent,” said Aldeguer.
ALA promotions is negotiating for an IBF title-eliminator for Domingo, where he needs to face any of the Top 10-ranked fighters for the No. 1 and 2 spots which are currently vacant.
“We will negotiate for the possibility of Michael fighting for an eliminator.”
Domingo is currently ranked No. 10 in the IBF.
