THE Gaisano-owned chain of jewelry stores, My Gold, recently opened its fourth branch in Gaisano Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
“We see people of Lapu-Lapu City as a potential market for fine jewelry,” said Merill Gaisano, owner of My Gold, adding that its pieces are sold at below the market price.

The My Gold Mactan branch is the second branch opened this year, following the one that opened last June on Colon St. Two other branches are located in Elizabeth Mall and Colon St.
It sells pre-owned and new jewelry pieces like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings and pendants made from different types of gold.
The store also sells diamond jewelry.
“Buying gold jewelry is like buying land. It is a good investment,” said Lowelyn Saavedra, My Gold operations head.
She said that in the past three months, gold’s price
increased about 15 percent. “Gold never depreciates, that’s why it is a source of investment.”
Despite the economic crisis, Gaisano reported that their sales performance is “doing well” and that the market is growing.
“People these days are sophisticated in terms of buying things that have value. They are wiser about acquiring things that can become good investments.”
With its first branch in Lapu-Lapu, Gaisano is optimistic that the chain can attract more buyers. She also said My Gold is expanding aggressively, as it intends to open more branches in Manila and Cagayan de Oro next year.
