Seares: PNoy, Rambo, and Llamas’s long guns

AT A Cabinet function, President Noynoy ribbed political adviser Ronald Llamas about being called Rambo.

The broadcaster who named him Rambo and PNoy who played along were stretching parallelism a bit.

AK-47, one of which was in Llamas's car that his security aides used, wasn't John Rambo's weapon of choice. Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone in the 1982 starter of the movie franchise, carried a Hoyt Spectra bow and a survival knife.

Trivia collectors tell us that an assault rifle issued to Rambo by CIA handlers was a Heckler & Koch MP543 but he lost it in a parachute jump. He relied on assault rifles from dead Russians and Vietnamese. In Rambo 1, he used a machine gun and in sequels (Rambo 2 to 4): AK-47, BAR, M-16, Claymore, M2, and Beretta.

Llamas didn't show his long guns, only an AK-47 which was a chance weapon for Rambo.

As to tactics, Llamas hasn't shown any as he still has to use his AK-47 in a gunfight.

OK, Llamas is no Rambo and his job, despite alleged death threats, doesn't call for Rambo stunts. The Rambo tag must refer only to Llamas’s arsenal.

Not funny

PNoy was kidding about violation of the gun law by Llamas aides and Llamas himself.

Not funny to the Senate, which will inquire how he got special permits to carry the weapons.

Sen. Miriam Santiago, instigator of the probe, who also got death threats when she was immigration chief, is still smarting from rejection of her request for the same perks given Llamas.

She could take the cue from "Rambo" Llamas: worm in as a firing-range crony of PNoy and collect and tote those lethal firearms she had long wanted.
