PRESIDENT Noynoy Aquino has promised “very good” news about the country’s economy in the next few days.

“In the next few days, I will give you news that is very good concerning the economic sector,” he said.

But he’s putting it on hold.

The very good news on the economy can wait, but the attacks against Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona can’t.

It seems no one can stop the continuing word war that has erupted between PNoy and Chief Justice Corona.

When PNoy pounded on Corona’s alleged lying in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN), Corona countered by challenging PNoy to show his bank and psychological records.

Enough reason for senator-judges and House prosecutors not to join the fray.

PNoy said he won’t stop his attacks against Corona despite calls from senators for a ceasefire between the heads of two co-equal branches of government.

“To keep quiet about the whole thing is, I think, wrong,” he said.

He also warned that it would be “extremely difficult” to sustain his reforms to fight corruption and other injustices in this country if Corona is acquitted.

It’s quite unfortunate that the fight against corruption is now hinged on Corona’s acquittal or conviction.

Trial fatigue is setting in among viewers of the continuing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona.

They’re apparently turned off by the impeachment tribunal’s legal mumbo jumbos.

So, it now appears someone must keep striking the iron to keep it hot.

But tempers are getting short in the impeachment trial, even from the cool Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, who warned prosecutors who presented a witness whose testimony is irrelevant to the impeachment trial that there’s a limit to the patience of the impeachment court.
