No Plan B for Mindanao

PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Deles said failure is not an option for the government in implementing the peace pact with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“There’s no Plan B. We can do it,” she said.

Let’s hope giving a piece of Mindanao to the MILF will finally bring peace in Mindanao.

Muntinlupa City Rep. Rodolfo Biazon, a former Armed Forces chief of staff, said war is inevitable if the government fails to execute the provisions of the peace pact with the MILF.

So, the ongoing clashes between government troops and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Mindanao is still not war.

At least, it’s not a war yet with the MILF.

Deles said she was confident Congress would pass the Bangsamoro basic law that would establish a more powerful, better-funded and bigger Muslim autonomous region in Mindanao.

The Bangsamoro would replace the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Would Congress act quickly when there’s no more pork barrel to reward them with?

Government chief negotiator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer said the MILF, with some 11,000 fighters, was also “serious about ending the war honorably and with their principles intact.”

Ferrer said the MILF has shifted from advocating armed struggle to pushing for what can be achieved through peaceful means.

Why do they have to fight for a homeland when it can be given to them on a silver planter?

The Chinese calendar said 2014 is the Year of the Wooden Horse. But what’s in store for us in the Year of the Wooden Horse?

Feng shui experts said this year will be high-spirited, active and lively for all.

This year will be a year of advancement and everything will be done at high speed and efficiency.

Unless, of course, if we’re content with just horsing around the whole year through.
